How To Find a Profitable Niche Market & Dominate in Google

What is Niche Marketing? It is promoting products or services to a specifically targeted audience.

Niche Marketing is a specific area or topic you choose to target within a broader market. As an internet marketer, you may promote products or services which are narrowed down to an in depth niche. For example – if you wanted to build a website in the dog training niche, then you could dig deeper and make Training German Shepherds your niche market site.

You can then drive traffic to your sales pages, or affiliate offer, and give your customers the products or services they are looking for. Through giving people who visit your website helpful products and information, you will gain a solid customer base.

How do you find a niche? What are you good or experienced at, what are you interested in or what would you like to learn and write about as you build your website? While you bring your experiences and insight to the table, your visitors will love you for it and so will Google because you are adding unique content to the web. The wrong direction would be to choose a subject you are opposed to or bored with.

I search using a process which uses a combination of things before deciding on what I want to promote.

  • Use the Google keyword tool for a general search first. Don’t forget to target by country if needed.
  • Search to see if there are other people advertising on Google in this niche. If there are – this is most likely a profitable niche. While here, check out your competitive websites – can you offer visitors something they don’t?
  • Check out to see what is selling on eBay.Com and Amazon.Com. Observe the bids and reviews. Lots mean activity.
  • Begin searching for niche products or services online by going to affiliate network sites like Clickbank.Com and CJ.Com for example.
  • Use an advanced keyword tool for research to see what domain names are available in the niche and which ones are likely to be profitable. An advanced tool will also show which keywords are more profitable.

Once you start correlating all your information, you will find some markets and products will stand out. In depth keyword research helps checking on your competition also. This video I made is about niche marketing and will give you some ideas where to start finding a niche market to create a website around.

Once you have a possible niche market which may interest you, research will need to be carried out to see if there is actually profit to be made from this or not. You are setting yourself up for failure if you target a niche around a subject for example of  “How to make water tanks”, if there is very few people searching to learn this topic. Research is key before choosing. Also related to this is determining how much competition there is surrounding the niche. Because you are targeting a niche, if this topic is already saturated with internet marketers, it may be difficult to establish yourself. You need to search for a niche that is profitable for you. To make money, you don’t want a flooded market. Here, online promoting is similar to that of offline but if you do your research properly there are often many keywords you can use to promote and target.

You can do web searches yourself to see what other sites have to offer their visitors. Do they have a good website?  Could you improve on it? Are they monetizing their site by adding affiliate links to sell something? Also go to the Google Keyword Research Tool and put in different search terms relating to your niche and see how many numbers of people are searching for your chosen keyword or topic per month.  Chances are, if millions of (SERPS) Search Engine Results Pages come up (just under your search term toolbar eg. “About 3,640,000 results (0.06 seconds)”) the niche may already be saturated and too difficult to compete in. However, if you find search results for your niche and they aren’t too high, you may have a great niche with high profit potential.  This could mean that people are searching for something, but aren’t able to find it.

The Google Keyword Tool is fine at this stage, and I use this tool for all initial keyword research. It allows you to see how many people are searching in your country as well as globally. Remember, if there are not many searches for your target keyword and/or niche topic, there is no sense in wasting your time with this idea any further.
