How To Add Google +1 and Custom Social Share Buttons to Your WordPress Website
This video will run you through how easy it is to put the Google +1 button, and any other social share buttons onto your WP website. I use WordPress to build my websites and have only just started adding the button to this new website, so this tutorial is giving an example of how I use the free Addthis plugin to help get the job done.
As savvy internet marketers, we all know the importance of sharing and social media on the web.
I really like the ease and flexibility of this great little plugin. You can add any share or like button. Twitter, Facebook like button, Digg, MySpace and Delicious just to name a few. The list is huge and is all in alphabetical order to make finding individual button codes easier if you go for the build your own configuration.
You only need to go into your WordPress dashboard, then scroll down to Plugins, Add New, Addthis, activate plugin, then go back into your Addthis plugin inside your dashboard to configure.
Why The Google +1 Button?
The Google +1 gets interest in your site and conversations going on around the web. When someone clicks the +1 button, it is like they are giving you public approval. More can be found here at Google+1 if you want to get into the Google circles social thing. Although in early stages of it’s launch, the Google + concept will develop over time and I guess time will tell if the idea catches on. Many similarities to Facebook???
When someone does a search on Google, they may see your +1 button. You’ll help them find the best stuff on the web – and you might just start up another conversation. After all, this is what the web is about – sharing information with others.
